Here are just a few pictures of Andrew. He is wearing his first cardinals shirt today because his daddy dressed him. The other picture was taken yesterday. I couldn't believe it when I put a 6 month outfit on him and it already fits. I feel he is just growing up to fast. Everyday he amazes me with how alert and aware of everything that he is.

Rani hunted eggs at her Grandparents' (Scrivener) house this past Saturday. She filled her basket up then proceeded to fill Andrew's basket. I guess he was worn out from watching her run around collecting all the eggs.

I put Andrew down in Rani's princess chair for a minute. I had to snap a picture quick because Rani was about to push him out. I guess we will have to get Andrew his own chair.

I just wonder what Andrew thinks of his big sister Rani.....

I want to keep up with this blog because I know how much I enjoy looking back and seeing all that I have documented. I get overwhelmed when I don't blog for a while and feel that I have missed so much. So here are some highlights from the past few weeks.

Laura and Joshua came and stayed about three weeks with us and we thoroughly enjoyed them being here. Laura and I took Joshua, Rani, and Andrew to the Memphis zoo and we had a great time. Some of their favorite animals were the giraffes, elephants, and grizzly bears. We were all worn out by the time we got home, but it was a very fun day. Joshua and Rani really did good at getting in and out of the stroller in order to be able to see. Andrew was so content with just being pushed in the stroller.

As Aunt Laura says, “Andrew is cool as a cucumber.” He is very laid back. The lady that kept him in the church nursery Sunday told me that Andrew was nosey. She said he wanted to be sitting up at all times where he could watch Rani playing. He does love his sister. I love to watch his expressions as he watches her run from one end of the house to another as he observes while being in his exersaucer. I also love to watch through the rear view mirror in the car as I am driving and see them holding hands and smiling at each other.

Rani has so many toys and she plays with all of them but she also can entertain herself with just about anything. One of her favorite things is empty diaper boxes which we seem to have a lot of these days.

Rani and Joshua hunted eggs several times. Rani is a very competitive egg hunter. She would fill her basket and then try to get the ones out of Joshua’s basket.

Rani loves to sleep late in the mornings. On most days that is perfectly fine but on Sunday mornings I always have to wake her up to get ready to go to church. Whenever I get her up it takes her a while to fully wake up. This picture was taken this past Sunday after I got her up as she was just relaxing in the recliner.

I thought I would try Andrew sitting in the bumbo seat today. Rani wanted me to take him out so she could get in it.

I just thought I would post a picture to show what is going on in the Scrivener house on Friday night. I told Don that we needed to tag team and keep the washer and dryer going for the next 24 hours in order to get caught up on laundry. :) Rani even felt like she needed to help.

I cooked some cheesecake brownies tonight. I saw the recipe on a friend's page on facebook. They were super easy to make and pretty tasty.

I took Andrew to the doctor yesterday for his two month shots. He now weighs 10 lbs and 6 ounces. I am still learning how to manage with two little ones when getting out and about. I had Rani and Andrew at the doctor's office by myself. It is a challenge keeping Rani entertained for 45 minutes while waiting in a very small room. Rani loves books so I took three books but we probably read them about five times each.

The theme for Andrew's nursery is Dr. Suess. We ordered the bedding from pottery barn and the rest of the decor was provided by my very artistic friends.

We moved Andrew into Rani's room and made the guest room into Rani's room. I believe Rani just thinks she has two rooms now. She divides her time equally between both. People always ask me what we do all day. Well I am posting a picture of Rani that tells a lot of her daily activity. She has many little people figures along with sesame street characters. She moves them one by one all over the house. The picture only represents about a third of her characters. There is no telling how many steps a day she runs around this house. She is a very busy girl in moving all of her toys from one room to the next. I thoroughly enjoy watching her play. I always wonder what she is thinking. I am positive she has a big imagination. Rani's three favorite shows are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, and the Imagination Movers. Andrew is a very sweet baby. I think he is pretty laid back. He just smiles and coos and it just melts my heart. I am just in awe of these two precious children God has blessed us with. Some days are long and tiring but I just think how quickly time flies and how I want to embrace every moment I have with them.

Rani has really adjusted well to having a baby brother around the house. I tried to take a few pictures of them together today but I was not too successful however I am posting a few that I took. Andrew is pretty laid back and Rani is really good at entertaining herself. I am so thankful for these two precious children that God has blessed us with.

We got to come home yesterday and we were all glad to get back home. Mommy and Andrew rested the rest of the night and daddy went to the church and met with the youth.
Uncle Jeff, Aunt Laura, Cousin Joshua, and Big sister Rani all were excited to welcome Andrew home.

We got up early this morning, cause someone wanted a sausage and biscuit from McDonalds, and our day was started. We sat around resting for most of the morning, and then we had some visitors. Bro. Freddie, Connie, and Olivia Matthews came from Vaiden to check on everyone and we had a good visit with them. Then Bo, Tori, and Brayden Edmiston stopped by to see Andrew, and brought him some goodies. Then our college friend Lea Ann Oglesby stopped by on her way to class, and to wrap up Andrew's Momma Chell' stopped by for a while, brought him some MSU goodies, fed him and helped with some grandmotherly duties.

Happy Birthday!!!!

At 4:23pm, on Novemember 30th the Scriveners were blessed with a new addition. Andrew Hubert Scrivener came into this world weighing in at 7lbs 11oz., 20 inches long.

Mom and Andrew did great. He arrived on the predicted due date and is still doing great. Both sets of grandparents were here to welcome him into the world, along with Aunt Jamie. Uncle Jeff, Aunt Laura,& Cousin Joshua brought Andrew's big sister Rani to the hospital so they could get acquainted.

Rani was so excited about Andrew, and just as excited about the bubble gum cigars.

I am trying to update my blog since it has been quite some time now. Rani is now 14 months but I am just now posting some of her one year pictures. She will be a big sister in just five weeks. I just wanted to update with some pictures of Rani. We were able to go to a pumpkin patch this past Friday and Rani really had a good time. Brayden showed Rani how much fun it was to play in a corn box. Rani also wanted to show off her new boots.

Rani turned one today. I can't believe it has already been a year. Don was such a good dad and put together a kitchen set for her that his parents bought her. The instructions said it would take four hours to assemble, but being the pro he is, it only took him about two and a half. I think Rani will enjoy playing with this kitchen for several years.

We had a fun time today with family and friends. Her birthday theme was sesame street since her favorite dvd to watch is the sesame street dance along. Every time we put the dvd in her face lights up and she immediately starts clapping her hands. We really appreciate everyone making the drive to Vaiden to celebrate with us. Rani really enjoyed playing with her family and friends and she also thought it was pretty neat to get to open all her presents. She definitely devoured her cake that she had. She kept looking at me with eyes like, "aren't you going to tell me I can't have this?" Don and I are just so thankful for the blessing God has given us in our daughter. Rani got two baby dolls today and I think they will be good practice for her in getting ready to welcome her little brother in November. I know she will be a great big sister.

Even though I like to read other people's blog posts everyday, I have to say I am not good at keeping up a blog. I am even worse at taking pictures. I never have my camera with me at the right time. Rani and Joshua have really enjoyed playing together. Joshua has been very nice to share all of his toys with her. There is this one toy that they always seem to want at the same time so that is always fun to watch. In the pictures you will see them swinging and then wishing their great grandmother a happy birthday. I think Rani will definitely miss Joshua when we go home. He will just have to hurry and come see us next.

Well our first full day in Clovis we didn't do too much, we just kinda hung out around the house and visited, and then went and watched Jeff play in an intramural volleyball game.

Rani and Joshua have had a great time getting to visit, and Rani and her daddy got a good 2 hr. nap yesterday as well. Her daddy needed it after playing xbox till midnight monday night with uncle Jeff, and he will probably get a nap today after playing it again last night till midnight, but that is what vacation is all about.

New Mexico

Well we left Fort Worth heading to Clovis, NM yesterday about 10:30am and we got here to Clovis about 5:30pm (Central Standard Time) 4:30pm (Mountain Standard Time).

It was a great second day of travel. Great weather, and Rani again was an EXCELLENT Passenger. If you don't realize it once you get to West Texas, pretty much all you see is windmills, cows, and tumbleweed. We didn't run into any tumbleweed yesterday,but we saw plenty of the other too. Oh yeah, and don't forget oil wells!

We got here and got checked into airforce base, which has a golf course, and yes since the sun doesn't go down here till 9PM, Jeff and I were able to get 9 holes of golf in. yesterday.

Mary Martha was glad to get here and rest, and watch the season opener of John and Kate plus 8, big whoop, and Rani and Joshua have had a great time playing. Looking forward to a good week.

Family Vacation 2009

Well after long discussion and many thoughts about vacation we decided it would be great to go and see Mary Martha's sister and her family in New Mexico for our vacation this year. Laura and Jeff and Joshua have come and seen us but since Rani has been here we haven't gone anywhere, or taken her out of state.

Well Yesterday we headed out after church, and headed for New Mexico, that's right driving all the way. Rani is an EXCELLENT passenger. She didn't fuss until we were right outside of Dallas, and by that time it was after 9PM and she was getting tired. But she was a good girl all the way out here to Ft. Worth, and a big help too.

Once we got to the hotel Rani wanted to play after being in the car seat all day long.

Today, Rani and I went for a walk. I was in awe of God's beautiful creation. Yeah, some of you are going to say well those are just weeds.I actually did not originally have my camera with me but I made a trip back home to get it and then continue my walk. I was thinking about the quote, "bloom where you are planted." You know sometimes in life things may not turn out exactly like you planned, but when you realize that God has you somewhere for a reason you are able to see His hand all around you. Today, I truly experienced a quiet time that will go down in the journal. Knowing that God will never change and will never leave us is such an important promise to remember. The seasons change every year, but for some reason this year I have actually taken the time to be amazed at our Creator's handiwork and organized and detailed design.

Psalms 23 came to my mind as I was walking by this green pasture today.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

We took Rani to have her six month photos made. She was a good model considering the number of outfits I took for her to change into.

The McLendon girls came for a visit. We really enjoyed getting to see them.

Cousin Elizabeth had her 1st birthday party this past Saturday. Rani really enjoyed attending the party.

Rani has had a great time playing with her cousin, Joshua, for the past four weeks. It has been fun to watch both of them grow during those weeks. Rani is enjoying sitting up on her own and giving herself a bottle and also starting to eat solid food even though it is not something she initially liked as you will see in the video. Joshua has started crawling really fast and also pulling up on all my furniture to get all around a room. He will for sure be walking soon. Every morning when we get up Joshua and Rani like to watch a sesame street dance-a-long DVD. The front room of our house is very cold first thing in the morning so we have to put their coats and hats on them.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Rani had her four month shots on Christmas Eve. She weighs 12 lbs and 15 ounces. We have finally started cereal. She definitely likes it better when I mix some apple sauce with it. She is really enjoying playing with her toys that she got for Christmas. She has now rolled over from her back to her stomach so she is beginning to move around more. Here are some recent pictures of her.

Catching up on the Blog

Well it has been about two weeks since I have been able to update my blog. Rani is now 10 weeks old. She is just showing more and more of her personality everyday. Since she had her shots we have been able to get out and go much more. We have enjoyed getting more involved in our church now. We are so thankful for the wonderful church family that God has provided for us. Rani has done well in adjusting to the nursery. She will be going there several times a week so I am glad that she likes it so far. Two weeks ago Laura and Joshua came and stayed a week while Jeff was out of town. We thoroughly enjoyed their visit and look forward to seeing them again hopefully soon. Don, James, Mama, Laura, Joshua, Rani and myself all loaded up in Don's durango to go to the airport when it was time for Laura and Joshua to go home. We had a great time all being together and going shopping in Jackson. We just about need a bus for all of us and our stuff to travel in. However there were great memories made.

8 week shots!

Yesterday we took Rani for her eight week shots. We had to wait almost three hours at the doctors' office so it was a long afternoon. I will say that Rani was probably more patient than her parents were. When we got there they weighed her and told me to just leave her in a diaper and wrap her up in a blanket. So for the next two and a half hours we sat in the waiting room with her like this. We sang for a while and then she slept for a while. I wanted to post her singing her new song, "Mary had a little lamb." I just get tickled at how she tries to imitate my mouth moving. As for her stats, she was 6 lbs and 15 ounces when she was born and yesterday she weighed 9 lbs and 12 ounces.

Rani was able to meet her Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Hubby T this past week when we went to Canton.

We had to wait for two weeks for her mobile to get here but it was well worth the wait. It is amazing to me how long a mobile can hold a 7 week old baby's attention. I think Rani is partial to the yellow fish. She will watch it go all the way around.

Today I was able to capture Rani smiling and laughing on camera. Even though Don said my pictures are out of focus I still think they are pretty cute. When she smiles I can't help but smile.

This is a video I took of Rani this morning. We always sing this song in the mornings and I have noticed her moving her mouth as I sing. I read that at her age babies start imitating your mouth. For example if you stick your tongue out she will too. So I think she is trying to imitate me opening my mouth to sing.

Rani is getting so good at holding her head up. Today as I folded laundry, Rani was able to hold her head up while leaning on the boppy pillow and watch some of her Praise Baby DVD.

Thankful

This is my first time to sit down at the computer in a very long time. I wanted to blog this morning about the thankful heart that I am experiencing. There are no words to express the gratitude I have in my heart every time I look at Rani. God has truly blessed me in a way that I have never experienced before. I want to express my thanks to the Lord but come short of any words to describe it. This morning I was thinking of a Psalm I memorized when I was a child.

Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

I know anyone who has had a child can identify with what I am feeling. I just feel that there is no way to express to my Heavenly Father of how grateful I am for the many blessings He has put in my life. I just attempt to sit in his presence and lift my voice to praise his name. I will have to say most of the time I can't even utter words but my tears that flow down my face are tears that give Him praise.

I hope I have not forgotten how to post a picture so I will try. The picture I am posting is one of Rani with her two favorite things at the moment-her pacifier and her bear.

Home, Sweet, Home

We brought Rani home yesterday, and it was great. It's about 1 1/2 hrs from Columbus to Vaiden, and the whole ride Rani just slept, and slept. When we left the hospital we had Rani dressed in her grandfather's Christening Gown. My dad was christened 53 yrs ago in this gown, my brother Clint was brought home in it 31 yrs ago, I was 27, and my sister was 18. So It's been around the block.

Mary Martha's mother, and sister, and her son Joshua have been here to help Mary Martha with the day to day stuff while I'm at work. So they have been a big help here, and the church has been so generous in bringing meals to the house so we don't have to cook right now.

Mary Martha's grandparents also came over last night, so Rani got to visit with her Great Grand Parents. We had a good visit and ate dinner together. Then today we got in the swing of changing outfits several times due to bodily functions, and finally getting Rani's room decorated.

Big First Day!!

Rani had a huge first day. Mary Martha and I had to stay in the Labor and Delivery suite the night Rani was born so we didn't get into a regular room until yesterday. So we got into the room about 9 and Rani came in from the nursery a few minutes later. She got to spend all day with us, and both sets of her grand parents came to see her (Kirby and Carol Love, Jim and Michelle Scrivener). She also got to see her Great-Grandmother (Elizabeth Love). Aunt Laura and Cousin Joshua came to see her to and last but not least Aunt Jamie. So it was a big family day here for Rani.

We also had some good friends from the W come by and visit a while, and even a few people from Vaiden came by. She doesn't know how much she is loved just yet but she's got a big fan club.

Today it looks like we'll get to go home early afternoon, so keep us in mind as we travel home and get all settled in. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, Momma and Baby are doing great, and Dad is pretty good too.

She's here, She's here!!!!! Rani Emeline Scrivener, was born August 15th, at 8:10pm. She weighed in at 6lbs 15 ounces, and is 19 1/2 inches long. Her and Mom are doing great. Dad got to feed her a bottle tonight, and she is beautiful. She doesn't cry, right now, except when you uncover her feet. Anyways here are the pictures,

Everything Comes in Due Time

Well the baby didn't come yesterday and I got to thinking today what a better opportunity to be ecclesiastical. You know we would have loved to come in Wednesday night and then yesterday morning/ even to have our little girl here. But that wasn't the case, and it's ok because Mary Martha and I know that God is ultimately in control, and when He wants her to get here, she'll be here.

In Chapter 3 of Ecclesiastes, we find: 1There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven. (NASB)

So as bad as we want our little girl to get here, we know that all things happen in God's time. So maybe today will be her birthday, We'll keep everyone posted.

All Checked In!!!!

Mary Martha and I checked into the Baptist hospital in Columbus last night about 8, and are waiting to have our little girl. The Dr. said yesterday that if things go as planned she should be here early afternoon, but we'll see. We have been so blessed with such a great Dr., and a great staff of nurses here. Below is a picture of the delivery suite that we are in. Mary Martha wouldn't let me post a picture of her in the bed all hooked up to the monitor and all that stuff. Anyways say a little prayer for us throughout the day, and I will be posting pictures late this afternoon, or tonight sometime. Thanks for all your love and support.

We are finally getting settled in here in Vaiden, MS. Don is the associate pastor/ student minister here at the Baptist Church, and Mary Martha is getting ready at home for our new bundle of joy that is due any day now.

We will definitely be posting soon with pictures of our house, and our little girl's room. So stay tuned.
